After performing the mezzo soprano roles of Hippolyta (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Dritte Dame (Die Zauberflöte), the Mother (The Consul), Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), and the Witch (Hansel and Gretel), soprano Sylvia Baba underwent a fach transition and is excited to explore the roles of Liu (Turandot), Mimi (La Boheme), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Cathy (Wuthering Heights), and the title roles of Thais and Rusalka. She is a district winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award and has sung with the chorus of Seattle Opera. In the summer of 2013, Sylvia had the pleasure of attending the prestigious OperaWorks training program as an advanced artist. She is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz and the University of Washington and studies with Dr. Kari Ragan.
